 Message from the President

On behalf of the Board of Directors, warmest greetings and Happy New Year to you all! I am very excited to begin 2016 as the President of the Financial Therapy Association. Although I certainly have some big shoes to fill, I am committed to doing the very best for the organization and for you as our valued members. I begin this year feeling a great amount of energy and passion - financial therapy is continuing to grow and our organization is beginning to flourish.

Welcome and congratulations to our newest FTA Board Members: Ed Coambs, Ed Kizer, and Tracey Ann GordineerWe were pleased with the number of applications submitted for Board positions and I thank all who took time to submit. We have a diverse and unique Board - and I am looking forward to our collaborative work together.

My vision for 2016 is to continue the important development of the field of financial therapy and to work on more clearly defining who we are as financial therapists and what we do. To better define financial therapy is a crucial step not only for us as an organization, but also for the consumers of our important work.

Attending the Annual Financial Therapy Conference each year has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me both personally and professionally. If you havent yet attended this event, I highly encourage you attend. We will be hosting the 2016 Annual Conference in beautiful and lively Asheville, North Carolina, May 9 - 11, 2016. The Planning Committee, led by Ed Coambs, has been working diligently to make this years event a success. This year's theme is "Framework, Practice, and Reflection: Financial Therapy that Works ~ And the Theory and Research Behind It". Many of us as financial therapists desire more dialogue and information around how do you do this? and what works in financial therapy? Whether you're a long-time member, or just recently joined, the members make the conference, so please register to attend.

Please mark your calendars for the upcoming webinar! We received great feedback regarding our First Friday webinars in 2015 and are looking forward to continuing to bring information that can better serve your clients and improve your practice. Join us as we host Dr. Mary Gresham on Friday, February 5, 2016 to discuss her approach to Integrating Financial Therapy with Couples Therapy. There is a small fee to register. Please register HERE

Lastly, I would like to extend my appreciation to all of our members! I am looking forward to a productive and collaborative year. Read on for other exciting updates and involvement opportunities.

All the Best,
